A Day in The Life
How it all goes
My days are long and sometimes exhausting. The alarm on the iPhone goes off at 3:35 am as I drag myself out of bed to grab my makeup train case and travel makeup bag. I start with my skincare routine and while some of the products set on my face, I turn on the kitchen light and prepare my breakfast and lunch. Walking back and forth between the kitchen and bathroom, I try to figure out what the weather is going to be for the day, and the most important thing, WHAT AM I GOING TO WEAR FOR THE DAY?!!! As I wait to hear the weather, I grab my phone off the charger and go straight to my two emails accounts (yes I know it can be obsessive and I really have five accounts if you include work and school) where I find the normal sale ads and emails from some blogs that I subscribe to. The emails that stick out the most are business emails from companies that inquire about working with me through my YouTube channel or my Instagram page. Normally I just read over them to see if the opportunity is something I want to look into. The emails that I receive from companies that are not business oriented do catch my attention especially when the colors and the headline will catch my eye. It also depends on the the store that is sending me the ad that I will gravitate to. I do not look at all the ads that I receive because there are far too many to read and I would also end up penniless if I tried to shop at all the stores that send me ads.
Fast forward to finally starting my travels to the office. I settle into my seat on the bus and I use that travel time to watch some of my family and favorite YouTube stars, Snapchat, then to Instagram to see what pictures everyone has posted overnight. I also take a quick peak at Pinterest to find inspiration for new sneakers to buy or handbags to dream about because they are out of my price range (for now). Finally at the office where I either look at a 9 to 10 hour work day. Between different things and sporadic down time I might browse Facebook and Twitter to see what the gossip and or news of the day is. By the time the end of the day comes, Iām exhausted. The bus takes me on my journey home and I go back to Instagram to see what pictures I missed and maybe post a pic or two then I jump to YouTube to see how my latest video on my channel is doing. I then check out what new videos were posted for the day by channels that I subscribe to so I know what to watch when I get home. I post on Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube more than any other social media platform because they are all three very easy to use and are all visually pleasing to my eye. I finally arrive home to shower, eat dinner, do homework and relax with either my iPhone, MacBook or iPad. I watch YouTube for the rest of the night. Digital media in marketing is something that is good and also can be bad. The good part of it is the showing products or services that you never seen before and being able to find out more about them and them being shown to a larger audience. The bad part of it can be an overwhelming influx of product ads that can clog up your mailbox and could potentially turn you off from ads all together. I take it in stride and only pay attention to the ones that catch me. Like Nike having a 35% off sale. Now I have to stop and read that right away. All and all, digital media is all around me in my life and I just take it with stride.
