Super Planner

I have been working in a corporate environment for 20-plus years, and being there I had to find ways to accomplish tasks. I tried to wing it and found that it did not work.  My favorite thing to do is write up an old-fashioned to-do list in a planner.  I love using a planner because it keeps me on track with everything from my finances to my work to social media.  I remember having a conversation with a client and we were speaking about getting things done I told her that I love to plan everything and call myself a super planner.  She laughed at the title and then said she would use it for herself.

When it comes to some of the parts of my life I had to have a planner.  When I was in school I used a paper planner and that worked well for me.  I used it to plan my assignments and it kept me on track so I was able to graduate on time if I didn’t have that planner and later my reminders app on my phone I do not know if I would have made it.  I posted a video on my YouTube channel about how I stay organized for school.  That was a system that I ended up using when it came to work

Speaking of work.  I also started with a paper planner and later turned to digital planning.  Now digital planning is a bit more fun when looking for the right one to fit what I am looking for.  I like planners that have a monthly, weekly, and daily layout.  That fits my work life the best.  I can fill in the month at the beginning of the month, weekly at the beginning of the week, and fill in the day as I go.  I have to have a planner for my day or I will not get anything accomplished.  I had the opportunity to host a meeting for my team last year and I spoke about how I can start my day on time and end on time and my planner is the key thing for me.  I start the day by making a to-do list of everything I need to do from answering emails, and meetings, to updating floorplans to scheduling phone calls/Zoom meetings with the client.  When I meet with clients I take notes on OneNote and that is a whole different beast of notes that I do for client meetings.  I have to be as detailed as possible for that so I can make sure I am able to give them what they want for their space.

Finance is something I used to keep separate until this year.  I had a separate planner either paper or digital for bills but this year I didn’t want to buy separate planners for something that could be in one place so I do not have to look in 2 places for work and finance.  Plus all planners have a finance section so why not use it?  I like to plan out what bills are going to be paid when and I figure out what I have left over so I can see if I can get something extra or not for sneakers.

Another thing I love about my planner is I use it to reflect on what is going on at the time.  The past couple of weeks have been pretty hard on so many fronts that I needed to remind myself to relax stay calm or just get up and dance a little to keep the edge off.  Also seeing the words on the screen helps me get through the day.
