I’m Tired of Spending Money
When I moved into my first apartment at the age of twenty-one I left with my twin bed, television and VCR. When I moved into my first home I had no furniture, 2 televisions, a DVD player, and mountains of clothes, shoes, and handbags. So I had to pretty much start from scratch. On my closing day, I ordered my bed and sofa from Wayfair, and then I was off to the races. This is the first home I designed and I couldn’t be any prouder. Then I started to add up how much all of this is costing me. I realized that this is a lot and I’m not done AND there’s more money to spend.
Moving day and I knew this was going to take a while.
Now don’t get me wrong. I love everything I bought and I can’t wait to see the finished product but to be truly honest I’m tired of spending money. At first, it was exciting to buy my sofa and bed on my closing day but when I have to keep looking for sticky hooks for my shower caddy's after 2 failed attempts or trying to figure out sleek and stylish makeup storage. I get tired and want to throw in the towel. I think about the amount of money that I have spent in the past five months I know it’s in the thousands. Paint alone was crazy and don’t let me get started on pillows. I still have a full room to work on and I knew I had to put off until the first quarter of 2022 because I had a feeling that I was going to be exhausted. Just trying to figure out what configuration to go with in that room is still giving me the blues. Oh yeah, and I am still buying sneakers, bags, and clothes in the middle of all of this.
More packages coming in!
So I have come to a decision and that is to go on a no-buy for the first 3 months of 2022. I only want to just buy things for my home so I can finish it off and then look at building healthy savings for the rest of the year. Now don’t get me wrong I still want to buy sneakers, bags, and clothes but I know I will not get my home finished or even get the creative space done if I don’t just sit down and get it done. I have a list for each room and what needs to be done and I want to get as much if not all of it done by April 1. So I am giving myself 3 months to do this and I think it can be done especially with what I need to do. My list is not very long even with the full room to do. I just have to do finishing touches to make everything look just right.
Unpacking and sorting the Sneaker Room/Creative Space
After this little experiment, I want to think things through more before I spend because when you don’t then you are sending more and more back to Amazon and who has time or energy for that.
