Best and Worst Purchases of 2020
2020 was a year that I did not plan. I started the year knowing that I was going into my final 6 classes of my academic career and I was going to start looking at a career change but instead we had a global pandemic, my work hours were reduced then later lost my job. The brightest spot of the year I will say were my grades of those final classes. I finished with 1 B, 1 C+ and 4 A’s . The 4 A’s were done during the height of the pandemic also while I was having issues with my job. I have to pat myself on the back for that but that is not what this is about.
While all that was happening I did make some purchases and some were made before all hell broke loose, and some were made while we were at home and I was trying to cope with everything. So here’s my list
Best- These are things that I got a lot of use out of in 2020:
iPad- I switched my iPad from the budget iPad to the more powerful iPad Air 3 and I love it. With school I was able to read my text books and start writing papers while on the go. I was able to use it as a second or third screen when I needed it for research. Also I can use the apple pencil to write things down. I love having something so small but with a lot of power.
Glasses from Warby Parker- I was forced to wear my glasses more at home because I ran out of my year supply of contacts. My previous glasses from Burberry were my favorite but they were sliding down my face as I would sit and work. I came to the conclusion that it was time to get new glasses. I went to Warby Parker and found so many great choices and great prices. I went with the Amelia style in the Elderflower Crystal. I wear them all the time and I love them so much and they suit my face.
Black Christmas Tree- I was on the phone with my sisters and we were talking about Christmas decorations and trees and I was telling them that I was going to buy a tree this year and I couldn’t wait. I have not had a tree for 10 years and this was going to be the year that I changed it. I landed on the color black instead of a traditional green tree and that was because my mind changed so much this year with the way I think on things and I felt black was the best expression of how I was feeling. I found it at Walmart right before Thanksgiving and when I put it up it lit up the living room. Even the cat likes it! Plus I think black is a beautiful color anyway.
Coach Watercolor Belt bag: When the pandemic started I needed to be hands free as much as possible and I needed a bag that would help me accomplish that. Coach outlet was having a great sale and I was able to purchase a cute belt bag (from the mens section) at a great price. The bag is at a great size and the colors go with just about everything. I still use that bag on and off when I feel like it.
Worst- these are items that I bought with purpose to use over the year, but I did not get to use at all:
Burberry Logo Detail Cotton Blend Tote bag- At the end of January 2020 I was at home with a slight cough and I was searching the internet for THE tote bag at a great price and I put a notification on Lyst.com for the bag at a great price and I got a notification from FarFetch.com and the bag appeared. I bought it right away and the next day I was diagnosed with Influenza A. I had plans to make it my carry on bag for upcoming trips for the year. Then the pandemic hit, travel was grounded to a holt and everything happened so the bag was not used at all. I still have the bag and I cannot wait to use it.
Valentino VLogo Tote bag- At the end of 2019 I found myself looking at YouTube watching a bag collection video and saw a beautiful Valentino tote bag. So like a crazy person I went on a hunt for a Valentino tote. I did not find the exact one I saw in the video but I did find one that was just as wonderful. When I received it I was surprised of the small size but realized that I did not want it to be too big. I purchased it from Harveynickels.com and I still can’t wait to wear this bag.
Coach bags- Coach outlet was having another sale and I went a little crazy and purchased 2 small bags. Now normally I do not like to purchase small bags but when I saw these bags I lost it and ended up buying like a crazy person. I have not carried either one yet and I have moments that I think about not keeping them but they are totally different for my collection but to be honest I do love them both. They are not my usual tote, or hobo bags that a normally carry but I think they are a great addition for those days or nights that I just want something small to carry.
